Ballfield Ambush ‘might've Been a Little Different' Had Congressmen Been Armed, Texan Says

U.S. Rep. Roger Williams said on Saturday that he feels blessed to be back in Texas after an ambush targeting Republican lawmakers last week on a baseball field in Virginia."You realize that life is short, you're not in control," the congressman from Austin said, according to NBC News. "You can be at the wrong place, wrong time."Williams, a star player and later a coach at TCU, injured his ankle in the chaos of Wednesday's shooting and entered the Fort Worth Club on crutches Saturday afternoon.The congressman's legislative aide, Zack Barth, was shot in the leg during the attack, and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was critically wounded.Scalise's condition was upgraded to serious after another round of surgery Saturday.  Continue reading...
