Bail Lowered for Woman Accused of Subjecting Her Son to Years of Unneeded Medical Treatment

A Dallas County judge reduced the bail Monday for a woman accused of subjecting her 8-year-old son to hundreds of unnecessary visits to doctors and more than a dozen surgeries.Bail for Kaylene Bowen-Wright was lowered from $150,000 to $25,000. She must stay in Dallas County and refrain from any contact with children if she posts bond; jail records indicated she was still in custody Monday afternoon.Bowen-Wright was arrested Dec. 6 on a charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. Her son Christopher Bowen and two of his half-siblings had been removed from her care in late November.The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that from 2009 to 2016, Christopher made 323 visits to doctor's offices and hospitals in Dallas and Houston.
