Attorney for City Council Member Kevin Felder Alleges Dallas Police Mishandled Scooter Investigation

Dallas City Council member Kevin Felder’s attorney on Friday alleged that Police Chief U. Renee Hall mishandled the department’s investigation into accusations that Felder hit a scooter user last month and fled the scene.Pete Schulte, Felder’s lawyer, blasted the police department’s investigation during a 30-minute “information session” with his client at Stronghold Christian Church in Buckner Terrace. Police, following its investigation, charged Felder with “accident involving injury,” a third-degree felony for the Feb. 13 incident.Efforts to reach Hall for comment late Friday night were unsuccessful. Neither Felder nor Schulte took questions from reporters.Aside from the criticism of the police department, the event Friday marked the time in Felder publicly described the incident in the 2500 block of Malcolm X Boulevard in South Dallas, about two blocks from his district office.Felder, who denied the charge and surrendered himself to authorities Feb. 26, said the last few weeks “have been very trying and stressful to me.”  Continue reading...
