It's a sad thing that the MLK Day parade in Arlington won't happen. But the problem wasn't just politics and protest. The bigger reason we aren't having an Arlington MLK Day parade - the parade the whole region was supposed to enjoy - is that it needed a different leader from the start.Even as I write this, I'm not sure the parade is totally dead. The city announced late Thursday that the parade permit was denied because the promoter hadn't paid all the bills, had no funds and had run out of time.
