Anonymous Letter Leads to Arrest Over 2 Years After Hit-and-run Killed Baylor Band Member

Years after his death, an anonymous letter has led to an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed Baylor University sophomore David Grotberg.Police on Tuesday arrested Tammy Blankenship Harlan, 50, in connection with the 2016 death of Grotberg, the Waco Tribune-Herald reported. Harlan, of Waco, was initially booked into McLennan County Jail.Grotberg, a 19-year-old from Minnesota, died on Oct. 6, 2016, after a vehicle struck him while he was riding his bicycle in the 3200 block of Franklin Avenue in Waco. The Tribune-Herald cited witness reports that said the SUV that hit Grotberg did not stop after striking him.Police said they received an anonymous letter in September 2018 attributing the hit-and-run to Harlan, who the letter claimed was drinking and speeding when she struck Grotberg, the Tribune-Herald reported.  Continue reading...
