American Airlines Jet Strikes Deer During Takeoff, Forcing Emergency Landing

An American Airlines jet made an emergency landing Wednesday after hitting a deer a leaking fuel onto a runway in Charlotte, N.C.The American Eagle plane was flying 44 passengers and four crew members to Gulfport, Miss., at about 12:15 p.m. when the CRJ-700 struck a deer during takeoff, according to a statement from American Airlines. It immediately returned to the airport.
