An Allen man was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child.James Schafer, 35, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child related to him, the Collin County district attorney's office said.Police began investigating in 2016 after Schafer told family members in Michigan about the abuse, which had gone on for several years beginning when the girl was 6 years old, officials said. Michigan State Police referred the case to Allen authorities after learning that some of the abuse occurred in Texas, officials said.Schafer has been in the Collin County jail since October 2016.
