After Losing a Beloved Teacher, This Synagogue Found a Grand Way to Cement Her Legacy

PLANO — They made the walk together thousands of times.A half-mile, straight from their Plano driveway to the synagogue, every Friday night and Saturday morning for Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath.They walked in the rain. They walked in the Texas heat. They walked as a family with their three daughters, and after the kids moved out, again as a couple, Stefan and Wende Weinberg.The walk was their cherished routine — a weekly reminder to slow down, reflect on their days and the things they’d accomplished together: two college study partners who married, moved to Dallas and started their own synagogue, Anshai Torah.He was the rabbi.
