Abilene Man Accused of Molesting Child May Have Other Victims, Police Say

An Abilene man who has worked with kids admitted to inappropriately touching a child, police said. Benjamin Roberts, 24, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Taylor County Jail. During a search of his home, detectives seized child pornography and one pair of underwear that belonged to a child, police Sgt. Lynn Beard said. He also admitted to inappropriately touching a child in 2017, police said.The Police Department's cyber crimes unit traced child pornography downloads between July 19, 2017, to Sept. 26, 2017, to Roberts' residence, a neighborhood outreach house in the 400 block of Cockerell Street. There is a "high likelihood" that there are other victims who police don't know about, Beard said. Roberts worked at locations around Abilene where he came into contact with children, police said, including the Wylie Baptist Church Child Development Center, Southern Hills Church of Christ daycare and the youth program at Beltway Park Church.
