Abbott Blasts Texas Delegation Over Disaster Relief Bill

This story is developing.WASHINGTON -- In an unusual move, Gov. Greg Abbott is blasting the Texas congressional delegation after the House unveiled a $36.5 billion disaster relief package that doesn’t include the Lone Star’s request for additional Hurricane Harvey aid.In an interview with the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday, Abbott said “it appears the Texas delegation will let themselves be rolled by the House of Representatives” and called for them to get a “stiff spine” and insist on Texas-specific funding in the bill, set for a vote in the House on Thursday.Last week, Abbott joined Sens. John Cornyn, Ted Cruz and all but three GOP members of the Texas delegation in a request to Congressional appropriators for $18.7 billion in Hurricane Harvey relief.  Continue reading...
