A House Divided: GOP's $1.5 Trillion Tax Cut Passes, Now Heads to Senate

WASHINGTON — A House divided along partisan lines approved a $1.5 trillion tax cut on Tuesday, nearing the finish line on the GOP’s two-month sprint to craft a tax overhaul that will be felt across most all segments of American life.The proposal — passed 227-203 with no Democratic support — now heads to the Senate, where Republican leaders have enough support to OK the revamp later Tuesday or Wednesday.The bill’s final passage would mark a triumph for Republican lawmakers and President Donald Trump, who can both claim credit for heaping relief upon the business world while also providing the vast majority of Americans a tax cut next year.“Everyone’s lives will be better off under tax reform because of the tax relief families get, because of the higher paychecks, because we have a stronger economy,” said Rep.
