77-year-old Molester Gets Life Without Parole for Raping Girl for Half Her Life

A 77-year-old man will spend this rest of his life in prison after he admitted molesting a girl for several years.James Paul Cottle was sentenced Wednesday to life without the possibility of parole after his guilty plea for continuous sexual abuse of a young child, according to the Denton County district attorney's office.Cottle's trial began Monday and ended unexpectedly two days later when the Lewisville resident changed his plea to guilty after hearing the testimony of the victim and several witnesses, First Assistant District Attorney Jamie Beck told the Denton Record-Chronicle.Court records revealed that the sexual abuse began in 2009, when the victim was 6 years old, and continued until she told authorities at age 13."Our office will continue to work relentlessly prosecuting and bringing to justice those who prey on young children," District Attorney Paul Johnson's office said in a written statement.  Continue reading...
