5 Dead, 7 Injured in Three-vehicle Crash in South Texas

A three-vehicle crash left five people dead and seven others injured in South Texas late Saturday morning.A woman, two men and two children all traveling in a passenger van were pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, told the Victoria Advocate. The crash occurred on northbound U.S. Highway 59 in Victoria County when the van hit a semitrailer, San Miguel told the Advocate. The driver of the van then lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound Ford F-250 pickup.The initial cause of the crash is still under investigation, San Miguel told the Advocate. A person traveling in the van was flown to Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, and a male and female in the Ford F-250 were transported to the hospital in Victoria, San Miguel told the Advocate.  Continue reading...
