3 Arrested at Home Depot in Fort Worth While Trying to Grab $20,000 in Mexican Kidnapping Plot

Three men were arrested in Fort Worth last week while authorities say they were picking up ransom money from a North Texas man they were helping to extort.The victim, a North Richland Hills man, said that on Sept. 22 he began receiving threatening calls from an unknown Mexican phone number, according to court documents. The caller said his two brothers had been kidnapped in Mexico and demanded $300,000 in ransom.Without payment, he would kill the brothers, he said.The victim agreed to a $20,000 ransom and dropped it off next to a dumpster outside a 7-Eleven store at Interstate 35W and Heritage Trace Parkway in Fort Worth.
