25-year-old Charged With DWI After Chain of Crashes on I-75 That Killed His Passenger

A 25-year-old driver was arrested on a DWI charge after a Saturday night crash that killed his passenger and sparked a chain of related crashes involving seven vehicles on Interstate 75 in Dallas.The driver, who has not yet been publicly identified, was driving south on I-75 when another driver lost control on the wet roadway and slid into the outside wall south of Mockingbird Lane, Dallas police said.The arrested driver hit that vehicle and spun out of control before being hit by a third driver around 11:30 p.m. The arrestee's passenger, a 23-year-old man who has not yet been publicly identified, was thrown from the vehicle and killed.Four more vehicles trying to avoid the scene were also involved in crashes, Dallas police said.First responders took the arrested driver into custody and transported him to a hospital, police said.
