2-week-old Boy Killed in Grand Prairie Crash After Mother Ran Red Light, Police Say

A two-week old infant was killed in a crash Monday morning after his mother reportedly ran a red light, Grand Prairie police said. Sokhna Ghingue, 22, was driving about 9:30 a.m. westbound on Mayfield Road when ran the light at the southbound State Highway 161 frontage road, police said. A Dodge pickup hit her Kia Rio on the passenger side, and both vehicles then hit a Toyota pickup that was stopped at the light. Ghingue's son, Mohamed Mbaye, was transported with critical injuries to Children's Medical Center Dallas, where he died Monday evening. He had been properly secured in the back seat, police said. Ghingue was treated and released from Parkland Memorial Hospital. There were no other serious injuries. The crash is under investigation. Police Sgt. Eric Hansen said Ghingue does not currently face any charges. "We will consult with the DA's office to determine if anything other than a traffic ticket is warranted," he said.   Continue reading...
