Local Designers Take vitaminwater Challenge

Local designers compete in vitaminwater-inspired challenge

Summer is officially over as we celebrate Labor Day this weekend, and New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, kicking off Sept. 8, will usher in the Fall shopping season in style.

Closer to home, an exceptional group of Dallas designers is also getting the chance to put the best of their collections down the runway, during the vitaminwater fashion competition happening Aug. 30 at the Granada Theatre.

The 10 lucky labels chosen to showcase their looks include Salvage House, Ann Hoang by Ann Hoang, Haute DJ, Emmanuel Tobias, Coco Bourgeoisie, Prashe, Barron & J, Morgan LaRochelle, STATUS by Sarah Jones and Neil Marek.

Designers will get the opportunity to send three pieces from their own collection down the runway along with a special look inspired by a vitaminwater flavor.

We recently checked in with a few of the competing labels to find out what we can expect from their designs during Tuesday's event; for Coco Bourgeoisie, it's all about "vivid color and texture interest with modern silhouettes," and STATUS's Sarah Jones described one of her sure to be unique looks as "Tomb Raider meets the Jetson's."

Chiming in on his envious role as a judge, Steve Kemble said, "When judging these dynamic young designers I will be thirsty looking for and most influenced by creativity, innovation, and relevance in the overall design that could potentially lead to their own recognizable brand."

The designers will be judged by some of Dallas' fashion elite during the event, sponsored by Modern Luxury and Dear Clark, and stylish luminaries like Lisa Petty, Shirin Askarai, and the famous Steve Kemble will determine who goes home with $2,500 grand prize.

Want to join in the runway fun? RSVP ASAP to Rsvp@planb-pr.com to attend the event at the Granada Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 30. Admission is free, but you must be on the guest list to get in.
