DALLAS FBI EMPLOYEE, SON TO PLEAD GUILTY TO FRAUD
An FBI financial analyst from Dallas and her son are expected to plead guilty this week to charges that they committed wire fraud and tax evasion for falsifying paperwork on several high-dollar vehicle loans. THIEF ATTACKS WOMAN AFTER RINGING DOORBELL
A Dallas woman is recovering after she was beaten Sunday during a home invasion robbery. A man rang the woman's doorbell and when she answered, the robber pushed his way into the house and hit the woman in the head, police said. The woman said the thief stole her jewelry and other items, then took time to use her bathroom and phone before leaving.
CLERK THOUGHT GUNMAN WAS KIDDING; HE WASN'T
A convenience store employee thought a customer was joking around when he pulled a gun and demanded money from the cash register Sunday afternoon in east Fort Worth. But then the gunman became aggressive, police said. The customer entered the store in the 6700 block of E. Lancaster Avenue at 3:30 p.m. and pulled out a pistol, said Lt. DALLAS POLICE INVESTIGATE NIGHTCLUB SHOOTING
Dallas police are investigating a shooting that happened at the 2505 Club on Pacific at closing time Saturday night after several fights broke out. An officer saw a man firing a gun into the crowd from a black four-door sedan and then the man pointed the gun at three officers, police said. That is when one officer fired back, police said. Investigators said they are not sure whether the officer hit the gunman. None of the officers were injured. (NBC DFW)
POLICE: COUPLE AWAKES TO FIND BURGLAR IN RESIDENCE
A woman and her boyfriend awoke to an intruder burglarizing their residence at about 5 a.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Louise Street, said Denton police Sgt. Bobby Ray. The boyfriend detained the 30-year-old burglar, who had taken the woman's phone from her bedside table as she slept, until police came to the residence, Ray said. THIEF ASKS TEEN, BEFORE STRIKING HIM, 'YOU BANG?'
A woman, her teen-age son and his friend were stopped by car thieves Sunday in south Fort Worth, and the friend was hit with a beer bottle, police said. The incident happened at about 7:40 p.m. in the 4000 block of May Street, said Lt. Paul Henderson, police spokesman. The 33-year-old woman and the two boys, both 16, were in a car northbound on May Street when a car with no lights on "pulled in front of her causing her to stop," Henderson said. ADOPTION ATTORNEY CONVICTED IN FORGERY TRIAL
Fort Worth attorney Kimberly Ashley-Stevens, 40, was convicted Monday of three felony charges related to forged documents in an adoption case. A Tarrant County jury deliberated about three hours before convicting her of fabricating physical evidence, tampering with a government document and passing forged documents in the case of a couple who were attempting to adopt an infant. MAN ACCUSED OF STEALING LAPTOPS FROM CITY HALL CHARGED
Police have charged a man in connection with the theft of two laptop computers from Dallas City Hall. Leonard Martin Smith, 43, is charged with theft. Police said the laptops were recovered. (NBC DFW)
MCKINNEY MAN ON MOST WANTED LIST ARRESTED IN NEW MEXICO
Officers in New Mexico arrested Friday a McKinney man who was on the Texas most wanted list. Joe Cates, 51, was on the run for 2 1/2 years after he was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, a third-degree felony. Plans to bring him back to Texas are under way. (NBC DFW)
POLICE TO SEEK STREET-RACING CHARGES IN FATAL CRASH THAT KILLED REALITY-SHOW CONTESTANT
Accident investigators plan to ask the district attorney’s office this week to consider filing street racing charges in an October wreck that killed Kandice Ann Hutchison, a 22-year-old Joshua woman featured in the MTV reality show A Double Shot at Love. Filming of the MTV show was finished before Hutchison died in the Oct. 21 crash. On the show, 12 “sexy lesbians” and 12 “hot straight guys” compete for the affection of identical twins who are both bisexual. Read more from the Star-Telegram.
ALLEN WOMAN ACCUSED OF KILLING HUSBAND
Police arrested an Allen woman on suspicion of killing her husband. Kimberley Shanks, 51, was arrested on first-degree murder charge. Charles Shanks' son called 911 on Sunday, saying his 49-year-old father was dead on the kitchen floor. Police said they found the murder weapon in the home.
