"BRAZEN" THIEF LEAVES DALLAS CITY HALL WITH LAPTOPS
Dallas police said a man was captured on surveillance video stealing two laptop computers from Dallas City Hall. Police said the thief seemed "very proud of what he'd done." An employee who asked not to be identified said the computers contain sensitive homeland security information. Police said the computers did not contain anyone's personal information. SHOTS FIRED DURING HOME INVASION, POLICE SAY
Fort Worth police said a man broke into a house Wednesday night in the 1800 block of Canyon Ridge Street while the homeowners were inside. Shots were fired during the incident, but no one was hit, police said.

TIP LEADS TO ARREST IN PLEASANT GROVE BURNED CORPSE CASE
Dallas police arrested a man late Monday in the death of a man found inside a burning Pleasant Grove home in September, a case that had stumped investigators until a recent tip gave them a break. Steven Etheridge, 21, is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $500,000 bail. He faces a charge of capital murder. Police say he may also be wanted in Mississippi on a sexual assault charge. MAN ROBS BANK WITH CELL PHONE PASTED TO EAR, POLICE SAY

JAILER’S ELECTION DAY REMARKS TO PRISONER INVESTIGATED
After an internal investigation Denton police have recommended suspension without pay for a city jailer who told a detainee on Election Day that he would be released if he voted for John McCain. The incident, which occurred on November 4, 2008, came to light after a reporter from the North Texas Daily newspaper contacted police officials about the matter. The investigation revealed that the employee did make inappropriate comments to the prisoner. In addition, two other jail employees who were on duty during the incident were reprimanded. (NBC DFW)
