A Fort Worth man was sentenced this week to six years’ probation for assaulting his 18-year-old stepson with a wrench after catching him assaulting the man’s 8-year-old daughter while the family lived in Arlington. Last month, the teen, who still lives in Arlington, was sentenced to seven years’ probation after pleading guilty to the Jan. 2 sexual assault on his stepsister. (Star-Telegram)
2 WOMEN ARRESTED IN BANK HEIST
Two women confessed to holding up the Denton Area Teachers Credit Union located off Highway 377 after they were arrested Thursday, Aubrey police said. Officers stopped Cynthia Garcia and Frances Anderson as they fled from the bank, and recovered the missing money from their getaway car, police said. Anderson and Garcia were booked into the Denton County Jail on aggravated robbery charges. (NBC DFW)
HOMEOWNER SHOOTS, KILLS CAR BURGLAR, POLICE SAY
An investigation is underway after a Cedar Hill resident shot and killed a person attempting to break into a vehicle parked in the driveway of his home in the 900 block of Sleepy Hollow, police said. The shooting happened at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. No names were released. (NBC DFW)
DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND NEAR OAK CLIFF CHURCH
Dallas homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Thursday night in a field near a church located in the 2800 block of Prosperity Avenue in Oak Cliff. The medical examiner is working to identify the victim, who is believed to have been dead for several weeks.
12 ARRESTED IN KAUFMAN WARRANT ROUNDUP
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Department announced a major round up of people following a month-long investigation into illegal drug use. Investigators issued arrest warrants for 22 people in the cities of Terrell, Kaufman and Greenville. (NBC DFW)
GIRLFRIEND’S TESTIMONY LANDS HER PROBATION
A girlfriend’s testimony against her boyfriend during an aggravated robbery trial landed her probation, despite facing her own jury trial just weeks away. Jurors in the trial say Amber Oden was motivated to testify against her boyfriend, Eric White, who was sentenced to 60 years, because the prosecutors intercepted a letter he wrote from jail promising his child’s mother he planned to reunite with her once he was released from jail. FOUR JUVENILES ARRESTED IN ARSON SPREE
Two more juvenile arson suspects believed to be responsible for as many as fifteen fires set through the month of November in the Winnetka Heights subdivision, were arrested Thursday, Dallas arson investigators said. Two other juveniles were arrested in connection with the fires on Wednesday. Two of the juveniles face felony charges in connection with the fires. The other two will be charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief. Three of the suspects are 13, the other is 12.
ARLINGTON SHUTS DOWN CITY'S LAST-KNOWN ILLEGAL GAME ROOM
Arlington police executed a search warrant Thursday at the Triple Spin Game Room on Division Street. Officers arrested six people on outstanding warrants, issued 28 tickets for gambling and seized 89 electronic game machines. (Star-Telegram)
