Dallas signed defensive back Tra Battle off San Diego's practice squad Wednesday, and he could play Thursday for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys created a roster spot for Battle when they placed put rookie running back Felix Jones on injured reserve.
Coach Wade Phillips said Battle, who played only one game for the Chargers after signing as an undrafted free agent last year, could play on special teams against Seattle.
"It's been like a whirlwind," said Battle, who was doing charity functions in San Diego on Tuesday when he learned he was claimed by the Cowboys. "I'd like to think I am (ready to play)."
With Cowboys safety and special teamer Patrick Watkins again bothered by a neck injury that forced him to miss three games last month, Dallas wanted to add some depth.
Phillips said Battle "should be able to come in and play" if needed.
