Cowboys Hope to See Melton Play This Week or Next

Henry Melton has missed the first two games of the preseason

After being held out of the preseason opener as a precautionary measure and then the second preseason game with a groin injury, Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton hasn’t played in a game since Week 4 of last year, when he suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

Needless to say, the Cowboys are anxious to get a look at the biggest signing of the offseason, and are hoping they’ll get that chance either this week against the Dolphins--the dress rehearsal game--or the preseason finale the week after that.

“We would love to have him play,
” said head coach Jason Garrett, per ESPN Dallas. “There’s no question about that. We’ll see what he’s able to do this week and if he can play this week, we would love to have him out there. If not, I would anticipate him playing next week.”

Garrett added that the team expects Melton to return to practice at some point this week.
