Cheap Eat: IKEA's Restaurant

I know, we were skeptical, too. But IKEA's Restaurant has multiple ways a family of four can eat for under $15.

Don't get us wrong, we're big fans of the furniture -- but the restaurant always seems like a Target snackbar -- no one would make plans to go to the Target for dinner, right?

IKEA's PR folks disagree, claiming the IKEA Restaurant "has a great variety of healthy, tasty choices and FREE entertainment for children."

You make the call, does the Press Release included below make a believer out of you?

FULL IKEA PRESS RELEASE:
Dinner for a Family of Four... Under $15? Tasty and Fun at the IKEA Restaurant.

Let’s face it. We all like to eat out. Just leave the cooking behind and go enjoy a fun, family meal. And we’re not talking about a quickie drive-through…you know, the ones with minimal healthy choices. Yet in these challenging economic times, a big question remains. Can a family of four really afford to have dinner out?

At the IKEA restaurant, absolutely yes! In fact a family of four can have a great nutritious dinner for under $15. And no reservations required!

Open from *9:30 am to 8:30 pm, the IKEA restaurant has a great variety of healthy, tasty choices and FREE entertainment for children. No tips to add to the bill. No waiter rushing you out the door.

For example, here’s a great meal for kids, and it only costs $2.49. It includes Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and a fountain beverage. Times that by two and you just fed two kids for under $5.

For the parents, try the organic pasta with marinara (adult size) and a drink. The total?

Just $6.56. Two adults, two children, this all adds up to $11.54. Now that’s smart eating and savings too!

Another option for adults; 15 Swedish meatballs with lingonberries, mashed potatoes & soft drink. The cost is $6.28 per adult.
