Pat O'Sullivan hit a homer and had four runs batted in as the Cats downed El Paso 11-4 Sunday night at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth.
The win was the Cats' 17th of the season as they took 3-of-4 from El Paso in the weekend series and their lead in the South Division now stands at five games over the second-place Diablos.
The Cats took an early lead as John Allen smacked a two-run homer in the first inning, his fourth of the year. They scored three more times in the third inning as Brian Fryer scored on an RBI double by Ryan Patterson, Cameron Blair crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Patterson scored on a sacrifice fly by Allen for a 5-0 Cats' lead.
El Paso scored twice in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Arnoldo Ponce and a solo homer by Jorge Alvarez to narrow the lead to 5-2.
But the Cats added four more runs to their lead in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Michael Bell and a three-run homer by O'Sullivan, his fifth of the year for a 9-2 lead.
O'Sullivan was 3-for-4 in the game, Allen was 3-for-3 with three runs batted in to lead the Cats' 11-hit offensive attack.
Cats' starter Jae Jung recorded his first victory in a Fort Worth uniform as he went eight innings, allowing two runs on six hits to improve to 1-0 on the year. Dane De La Rosa (1-2) suffered the loss as he gave up six runs on five hits in four innings pitched. El Paso pitching allowed eight walks in the game, five of which eventually came around to score.
The Cats head to Pensacola for a three-game series with the Pelicans beginning on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Dan Grybash (3-1) goes for the Cats in the opener.
