Beer, Wine Appearing on Dallas Shelves

Shoppers in several formerly dry areas of Dallas can now add a six pack of beer or a bottle of wine to the shopping list.

Six grocery stores received permits to sell beer and wine this week, two months after voters approved citywide sales.

The Kroger store in Lake Highlands received its permit Tuesday morning as did the Tom Thumb location at Preston and Royal.

The measure is not without controversy however.  Opponents of citywide alcohol sales have filed a lawsuit challenging the validity of last November's vote.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 19.
