GARDEN PARTY: Say farewell to the blistering heat and welcome a new season with open arms as you picnic in the garden. Pack up the picnic basket, load the whole family into the car and head to the Dallas Arboretum this Labor Day for a down-home country performance from Deryl Dodd and the Homesick Cowboys. Dodd has played with some of the hottest country artists to date and tonight he wows North Texas with a concert sure to make you T.G.I.H. (thank God it’s a holiday). The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT THAT: The rhyming adventures of Dr. Seuss has landed onto a new television series, “The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That” and you can find out what the cat knows today at the Dallas Zoo. A special screening of the new animated series set to air on PBS, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a special appearance by the Cat in the Hat himself. For the kids, the zoo will also be hosting a scavenger hunt and story-time reading from Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat library series.
SMOOTH JAZZ: The first annual 2010 Expo Park Jazz Festival: Many Faces of Jazz is the perfect place for jazz connoisseurs to bask in the ambiance of great music. The Amsterdam Bar along with nonprofit music foundation Musicology the Art celebrate a two- day music event in Dallas. Crowned the 2010 “Best Dallas Jazz Club” by the Observer, The Amsterdam Bar is the perfect venue for local acts like saxophonist Shelley Carrol, Mike Scheel and Erin Nicole Parisi. This is the last day of the expo to learn jazz music history. The show starts at 2 p.m.
