9/20: Keepin' It Low-Key

Play hooky for the day and shoot a few rounds of golf for a cause

FORE REALITY: This Monday drive your car and your club to the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving to shoot a few pars for The Bright Reality Celebrity Golf Classic benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters. There will be a few local celebrities showing off their put-put talent on a pro course – maybe you can snag a photo or be their caddy. The golf classic is held on an odd day – at the start of the week, but maybe you can get your company to sponsor (at the last minute). Take a second to complete the registration form (click here) to play a couple rounds of golf for a good cause. In case your boss asks, you’re helping kids for the day (technically it’s true).

MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE: Have a voice? Want to make sure your opinion is heard? Then, start preparing today. Election Day 2010 is approaching on Nov. 2 and registering to vote will ensure your voice makes its way to the state office. This Monday morning head to North Lake College in Irving for the voter registration drive at 11 a.m. Before you know it Election Day will be here (along with the cold weather) this year make a difference in the Lone Star state office and exercise your right to vote.

IT”S ALL GREEK (ART) TO ME: Art doesn’t need to be understood, or even make sense to anyone but the artist and at times that doesn’t happen either. Art just need to be appreciated and accepted. At the Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden in Dallas a new exhibit is on display showcasing the work of Israeli artist Hadar Sobol titled "Kairos" – a Greek word meaning “the right or opportune moment.” The moments that Sobol paints highlight movements in dark colors. The exhibit will be on display until Oct. 2.
