8/18: Hot, Hot, Hot

HATCH-ING A PLAN: Blue Mesa Grill kicks off their 14th annual Hatch Chile Festival tonight at all their area locations. Though we're not big fans of the extra spicy, we're told these green meanies are surprisingly addictive. The special deal tonight includes pairing the Hatch Chiles with Don Julio tequilas and a menu revolving around rellenos made from the featured fresh pepper. Reservations recommended for the 5 to 9 p.m. dinner service. Get more info and locations at the official Blue Mesa site.

DEAL-ING WITH THE HEAT: It only costs a buck per person to get into the Dallas Arboretum through the end of August, which is definitely a deal. Still, you'll have to "deal" with 100 degree temperatures to take advantage of the discount. If you're willing to brave the heat for a last chance at summer fun for a good price, start heading toward the Arboretum.

ICE-ING THROUGH HISTORY: Need the opposite of a hot day on the town? Try ice-ing down with the Ice Age Mammals on display at the Heard Museum in McKinney. Just don't freak out when the saber-toothed cats start moving -- the exhibit features ten romping, stomping, robot animals. Cool! Regular admission is $9 for adults, $6 for seniors and kids 3-12.
