6/22: Shine on Golden Triangle

Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton all showcase their individual strengths tonight

ALL THAT JAZZ, CAPTURED: At the age of 16, Jimmy Katz took the opportunity to see the great jazz musicians, Art Blakey and Thelonious Monk, perform at Carnegie Hall. This led to years of collecting thousands of jazz records. His photography career began with portraits of the famous jazz musicians. He and Dena have produced many album covers and photographed 300 plus jazz recording sessions. Their images have also been placed on cover pages of major jazz magazines. Today Photos Do Not Bend Gallery will feature some of these jazz portraits along with the World of Wonders exhibition. This particular show is a must see for all jazz lovers. The exhibition will include icons Sonny Rollins, Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman, Cassandra Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Dizzy Gillespie and more.

OUTSIDE BLOWIN ' IT UP: Described as "Fort Worth's best seasonal outing!" (Star-Telegram), the 20th annual Concerts In The Garden Summer Music Festival offers 19 nights of outdoor concerts, May 28 - July 4, 2010, at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden located on University Drive and Interstate 30. Bring a picnic and relax on a blanket under the stars or reserve your own table for added comfort. The summer music series is a great bargain for families! Children 10 and under are admitted free on the lawn if accompanied by an adult, and children's table tickets are available at more than half off the adult price in select areas. Although the musical selection seems to be hidden from public view we happen to think that the fact there is a fireworks display is absolutely enough to make it worth checking out.

KEEPIN' IT REAL: So have you changed your relationship status yet? No? Yes? Maybe? Does you say no but it's really yes? Maybe it says yes when it's really no. Well whatever the case tonight Rubber Gloves hosts a DJ night with the best name in town. Singles Going Steady. Girl you know it's true, a 75 cent well drink celebrates my love for you. As does the $2 PBR, High Life and Schlitz. Plus if the hipster thing doesn't work out and you end up working the fryer at Catfish King for the rest of your life because you thought it was ironic, at least thanks to nights like this you would have learned to drink cheap.
