5/28: Costello, Craziness and Cows

Elvis Costello

HIS AIM IS TRUE: Do you remember back in the 90's when the band Bush helped to push forward the trend of overblown alternative rock accompanied with orchestral string arrangements with the song "Glycerine?" Well, let's all take a moment remember something -- Elvis Costello is not Bush. You don't have to be afraid of the metaphors brought forth by the cello in an attempt to cover up disturbingly bad lyrics. It's freaking Elvis Costello! The guy has his own show on Bravo! He's married to Diana Krall! He's playing two nights with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra starting tonight and you would be a crazy person not to go see what overblown orchestral string rock really should sound like.

BRUTAL HONESTY: If your looking for something a little more cost effective then the Costello show, but with double the angst? Then Dan's Silverleaf has your ticket with Brutal Juice, Baboon and Record Hop. If there is one thing you need to know about Brutal Juice it is this - Wesley Willis wrote a song about Brutal Juice after seeing them perform in New York City. It appears on his album Fabian Road Warrior. Yep that's all you need to know. Why you say? Have you listened to Wesley Willis? The man is amazing. A beacon of ultimate cool in a world sinking in it's own hi-topped irony. So because of Wesley Willis you are going to this show and he guarantees you will enjoy it. You can thank him by not moving to Brooklyn.

SADDLE UP: For the folks that know the truth - that there are two types of music - country AND western, there is the Ft. Worth Stockyards Championship Rodeo. Come and enjoy some classic family fun and if your lucky some awesome fair-style food that's not so easy to find this time of year. The Stockyards Championship Rodeo features a Dash for the Cash & Run for the Money calf scramble for kids of all ages. Race to get the ribbon off the calf's tail and win cash prizes!
