45 More Performers Added to NX35 Lineup

If you want to see a great music show March 11-14, you're only choice is NX35 in Denton.

In a press release, organizers announced 45 more bands, including L.A. noise rockers and Nine Inch Nails opening band HEALTH.

When combined with the 123 bands already scheduled for the conferette, you'll be able to see 168 bands (announced thus far) at the multi-day music-ganza.

Full Press Release:

The NX35 Music Conferette has confirmed Los Angeles noise rock band HEALTH will join the more than 120 bands set to play the festival. Held in Denton, Texas the weekend before SXSW on March 11-14, NX35 will also welcome The Flaming Lips, The Black Angels, Juliana Barwick, Jookabox and others to the other, smaller Texas music town north of Austin.

As openers for the final Nine Inch Nails tour, HEALTH gained fame for a raucous, relentless performance style. “A live Health set is a reaffirmation of how a band’s physicality on stage is the dividing line between competently playing songs and making a show out of them,”  August Brown of the Los Angeles Times wrote in October.

In 2007, HEALTH recorded their self-titled debut at a scruffy all-ages music venue in L.A. called The Smell. Since a split 7″ HEALTH shared with Crystal Castles allowed for the latter band’s North American debut on Lovepump United, HEALTH has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and support from fans magentized to the four-piece’s collaborative spirit and commanding instruction: “You will love each other.”

HEALTH is known for the unique promotional methods the band employed upon the release of the 2009 album, Get Color. Tickets of varying colors were placed in copies of the album, and the patron who found a gold ticket in the jewel case won round trip airfare to L.A. to hang out with the band at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Winners who found a turquoise ticket received a silkscreened poster or LP test pressing autographed in the band members’ blood.

The NX35 Music Conferette is a walkable, 4-day music conference programmed in the heart of Denton, Texas’ central business district March 11-14, 2010.

Wristbands are now on sale for the NX35 Music Conferette at nx35.com. This year’s programming includes a discussion with producer/musician/journalist Steve Albini, the grand opening of a museum honoring the history of the 8-track tape curated by former Denton record store owner Bucks Burnett, and a lineup the Austin-American Statesman’s Patrick Caldwell deemed a “scorcher” in his report on the first round of bands announced at the paper’s Austin 360 music blog. An updated list of bands confirmed to play, which covers ground from Dublin to São Paulo, can be found here.

For $65, patrons can get a NX35 All-Access Cloth Wristband that grants entry to all NX35 daytime and nighttime programming. A Single Night All-Venue Tyvek Wristband costs $20.

In the coming days, more information about afternoon panels will be announced.
