2/9: Derivatives

FOGGY MOLLY: Some people get the music, others just don't (we'd be in that camp), but Flogging Molly unites some fans of Clear Channel alt-rock with curiously charged punk collectors, making the idea of the band a pleasant one for us. See the Celtic punk-rawkers at House of Blues with Frank Turner and the Architects. Tickets start at $27, all ages welcome. 7PM.

MULTI-MEDIA MASHUP: If, like us, you found yourself slinking to the back of the Performance/Art exhibit upon entering the Dallas Museum of Art to try out each pair of headphones under the snapshots of pieces spanning time and geography, you'll love what's going down tonight. Vocal Colors: A Vibrant Collage of Arts Onstage matches art from the DMA's collections with live music, spoken word, theatre and dance, featuring internationally-known singers like soprano Ava Pine on showtunes and lieders alike. Find tickets here; if you're not a student or a member, they're $37.

FUNIME: Odds are, you or someone you know has ties to FUNimation, the anime-producing company (Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket) with a Fort Worth office. If the odds aren't in your favor, you can get closer to the institution (and, you know, doing a voice) via a free screening of Soul Eater, episodes 1-4, at Studio Movie Grill in Addison. Todd Haberkorn, the voice of Death the Kidd, will be around to answer questions and sign autographs post-screening. 7PM.
