2/5: Song of the South

BOWER POWER: "I don't expect a Southern girl to know the Northern Lights," Raleigh, NC's Bowerbirds sing on "Northern Lights." Not sure how the folk-rockers got so wise to things north of the Mason-Dixon, as their music is a tall-glass of sweet tea. Take in a little late-stage sunshine at House of Blues as the band plays with Julie Doiron and Dallas' reflective Fox and the Bird. Find $12 tickets here. 9PM.

MARDI MARCIA: Marcia Ball plays what Rolling Stone calls "rollicking, playful, good time blues," a lot that landed the singer/pianist in the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame this month. See her at Dan's Silverleaf tonight, but don't sleep on the $17.50 tickets: find 'em online as capacity will be limited to make room for the boogie. 10PM.

ONE-MAN JAM: Keller Williams hails from Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the full solo project he's become known for twinkle-toes the line between jazz and jam-band. His song "Kidney in a Cooler" on Laugh throws Deep Elllum and Gypsy Tea Room some mentions -- we smell an encore (or, is that a decaying organ?) Granada Theatre, $22. 8PM.
