1/7: First Friday

Yoga, Happy Hour, Nana Dining and the Cotton Bowl

FREE YOGA: It’s one week into 2011 and if you’re sticking to the famed New Year’s resolution of getting in shape – bravo! To help add a bit more motivation to shaping up resolutions, Pranaa Ayurveda Spa & Yoga in Plano is offering free community yoga classes beginning today. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, Thom Allen (yoga guru) will host a yoga party class at Pranaa free of charge. Space is limited, so arrive early prepared to get down and get Zen.

HAPPY HOUR HELP: Tonight marks the first Friday Social-LIST Latino Society mixer event in the New Year. This happy hour celebration serves a bigger purpose doubling as a fundraiser. The group is accepting $10 donations at the door for the children of Juanita Renee Del Real, who passed away before Christmas. All proceeds will be donated to her family. Enjoy a few post-work week drinks while helping a family in need. The fundmixer is happening behind the velvet ropes of Aura Uptown Lounge and lasts from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

NANA GOODNESS: Every first Friday, dine at the Hilton Anatole Hotel’s Nana Restaurant tonight for “Friday Night Flights.” The evening of delectable bites created by Executive Chef Anthony Bombaci paired with fine wine all for $20 makes for a romantic and deliciously priced night out.  This Friday, guests can enjoy select Syrah wines, complemented with grilled pain rustique toast, cavatelli topped with lam bolognaise and grilled flank steak between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Click here for the “Friday Night Flights” menu.

For all you sport nuts, head to the Idle Rich Pub in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl Watch Party. Chug on beer while watching LSU and Texas A&M compete at 7 p.m.
