12/9: Chocoholics Unite

Christmas on the Square, Willy Wonka and Chocolate-making

‘TIS THE SEASON: The city of Garland is serving up hot coco for all at the annual Christmas on the Square celebration. Enjoy an evening of caroling, ice sculpting, horse drawn carriage rides, free food and of course, photo ops with Santa. Sadly, the “Parade of Lights” has been bumped off the holiday agenda. But, you can experience snow tubing and browse the Christmas bazaar. Located on State and Main St., the free festival activities last from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and the hot chocolate flows at 6:45 p.m. from the largest cup Dallas has ever seen.

A WORLD OF PURE IMAGINATION: Grab your golden ticket and make your way to Grand Prairie for a scrumdidilyumptious good time! Let the Oompa-Loompas guide you through a candy land factory filled with ever-lasting gobstoppers and free-flowing chocolate rivers all belonging to Willie Wonka. The Grand Prairie Arts Council presents the holiday production created by Roald Dahl about the famed candy man live on Uptown Theater stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $11 to $21.

CHOCOLATE WISHES: Wine and nosh on holiday chocolate treats all night long. Sorry fellas, this one is just for ladies. Satisfy your sweet tooth from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the You + Media office in Dallas as they host an evening of Holiday Chocolate-making and Wine. Stephen Smith will teach you how to make chocolate favorites paired with the best wines. Tickets are $10 before the event and $15 at the door.
