1/26: Let's Talk Comedy, Football

Comic Relief, Hard(core) Rock Life and Brush Up on your X's and O's

COMIC RELIEF: Adding a dash of comic relief to his not so sunny upbringing and life experiences, Shawn Halpin is the ex-Marine who doesn’t take himself too seriously or sugar coat anything. The Addison Improv regular makes the ladies swoon and the guys keel over from laughter all thanks to his “appeal of a teddy bear with the soul of a frat boy” (his thoughts on himself). Catch the Dallas native when he takes the Addison Improv stage once again for another dose of laughter at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.

HARD(CORE) ROCK LIFE: Hailing from the Queens borough of New York, Lou Koller, Pete Koller, Craig Setari and Armand Majdi are the hardcore punkers that make up Sick Of It All. With over 20 years of hardcore performing, the band is still cranking out beats and dominating the stage. Watch them tonight at The Loft at The Gilley’s Complex as they jump around and get the crowd hype by performing tunes from their most recent album “Based On A True Story.”Hitting the stage before the main event are Outbreak, Bitter End and Mother of Mercy. Tickets are $17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

BRUSH UP ON YOUR X’S AND O’S: If you’re the doting girlfriend willing to endure hours of football Sunday talk without even understanding any of the lingo, pay a visit to the Ladies Locker Room with former Dallas Cowboys Coach Joe Avezzano and he’ll teach you a thing or two about all the X’s and O’s. Thanks to Turning Leaf Wines, the NFL coach hosts monthly lessons devoted to football jargon for the ladies. Usually the two-hour football chat takes place at Studio Movie Grill on Royal Lane, but tonight you can catch him at Hat Tricks Sports Bar and Music Venue in Lewisville at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door.
