12/4: Christmas Songs

KING OF CHRISTMAS: Christmas tunes are just cooler when Elvis sings them. Even "Blue Christmas" exudes a sort of smug, put-on sadness that is somehow actually happy. The two bastians of Americana meet at the Eisemann Center with Jack Foltyn and friends' annual Elvis tribute Christmas concert, "Wonder of You." 8PM. Find tickets here.

CAROL OF THE BOYS: If only the Texas Boys Choir were serial neighborhood carolers, dropping holly on their paths through DFW's streets until their Google map of good will was complete. The group won't come to you, of course, but you can come to them tonight at Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington for a show with selections spanning Medieval processions, Vivaldi's "Gloria" and delightful self-deemed "sugar stick secular" songs. 7PM. Tickets available at the door.

CRAFTY CORNER: With the tree lit and Brave Combo's annual holiday set still ringing in the air, downtown Denton is ready for another yearly tradition: the annual Silver Leaf Arts & Crafts Festival. Pottery, decoupaged wallhangings, turquoise pendants and cactus mosaics fill the cozy digs of Dan's Silverleaf for an evening of Southwestern-hippie-rustic shopping (and jewelry for your mom, naturally) with a guitar and cello combo to lure patrons inside. For photos of the work to be sold, check out the event's Facebook page. 5-9PM.
