12/3: Spirited Fingers

STRING 'EM ALONG: Oh, you like that, mom? I made at a bar. Windmill Lounge is throwing its annual Ornament Making Holiday party, with complimentary materials to create your stocking stuff-able trinket and a clever plan to keep you sipping through multiple cheery rituals. Craft away from 6-9PM, then stay for karaoke 'till 12:30AM -- there'll be a drawing for a three-day, two-night trip to Vegas at 10:47PM. Each patron who makes an ornament is eligible, but you must be present to win, of course.

ONLY THE AUCTION IS SILENT: On the heels of World AIDS Day, Times Ten Winery in Lakewood offers its space to Art With a Cause for a silent auctionbenefiting AIDS Interfaith Network. Admission, parking, and hors d'ouevres are free; a cash wine bar is available for breaks from browsing the stained glass, scultpure, fine art jewelry, photography, ceramics and other treasures. 5PM-10PM.

GENTLE FORCE: The Dallas Black Dance Theatre performs three landmark selections using nature's examples of power and and grace for the group's Winter Preminent Dance series. Read founder Ann M. Williams' take on opening the group's season at the Wyly Theatre in World Arts Today. Pigs and Fishes by Elisa Monte, Awassa Astrige/Ostrich by Asadata Dafora, and Camouflage by Ben Stevenson are staples in the timeline of modern dance, so the timing of such a survey is appropriate for the group's debut in the venue. 7:30PM, tickets here.
