HIP AND HAPPENING: ‘Tis the season for mingling, holiday parties and social scenes – thankfully, the Junior Friends of the Dallas Arboretum are inviting all the under 40 cool kids to be a part of their members-only group. Join and receive VIP treatment to hush hush events. Like tonight, the Junior Friends are hosting a Magical Evening at the DeGolyer home featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, designer threads and bit of chit chat. The event lasts from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and costs nothing for members, but $75 per person for non-members. Click here for more details.
MAD FOR LAUGHS: Bobby Lee, best known for his comedic skills on MAD TV, pokes fun at all things seen with a unique perspective on his native Korean culture and will do anything for a laugh. The TV comedian is the longest running comic on the show with his most memorable interpretations of Connie Chung and North Korean President Kim Jong Il. See the funnyman at the Addison Improv tonight at 8 p.m.
MY NAME IS __________ AND I WORK IN RETAIL: If you’re having a tough time deciding which “Nutcracker” performance to attend or are just tired of hearing about them – scrap the whole ballet concept for the night. Watch how Crumpet the Elf battles sale-crazed shoppers, demanding toddlers and mass crowds, ultimately surviving the holiday season working at Macy’s Manhattan in the play The SantaLand Diaries. Written by NPR’s David Sedaris, the one-man show stars Nye Cooper as Crumpet in the Contemporary Theatre of Dallas production. If you have ever worked in retail, you will appreciate Crumpet’s grief in this performance. Please note that the title may sound cute and cuddly, but it’s not for little ears. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
