12/14: Good Cheer

SEASONAL BROS: Do you skip the beer when any other libation is available? We haven't been shy about siding with you. But folks at the Idle Rich Pub can introduce you to a genre of brews you don't usually find dumped out in your front yard: seasonal craft beers, thick American winter brews and Belgian ales. You still may not have a taste for beer, but at least you can say you've tried the finer lot. Admission to the Christmas/winter Beer Tasting is $25. 7-9PM.

SECRET MASHUPS: Paul Slavens' improv music show at Dan's Silverleaf is like a piping, good-humored version of PostSecret. You come in with a thought or a joke or a story, no doubt informed by your innermost longings or, say, the events of your weekend, and scrawl it as a song title on a slip of paper. Attaching it to a tip for Slavens and his band, you entrust that they'll respect your intimate offering with an improvised song. Good luck. 10PM.

MORE HAND BELL: We've tried every shiny decorative bell at Hobby Lobby, and there's no suitable clapper. If you're craving the clear, clean sound of a functioning bell like we are, know that First United Methodist Church in Hurst presents its handbell choir alongside a full orchestra with voices for the Festival of Carols. Child care is provided, but kids are welcome to stay and get festive. 7:30PM.
