11/18: Martinis & Manicures, Plus Bee Screening and Beer Pong

FRONT ROW FILM SERIES: D magazine's Front Row Film Series is hosting a screening of Conjure Women at the 500X Gallery in Deep Ellum. The film is an interesting documentary on a mother and daughter who make art out of discarded objects. Come for the culture. Stay for the free popcorn, beer and wine. Free, RSVP here, 7:30 p.m.

MARTINIS & MANICURES: Head to the bar for a mini spa treatment and not so mini-martini special. Sip on $7 specialty cocktails while the professionals at Posh Nail Spa perform quickie manicures for $12. Ristorante Nicola, 6 to 9 p.m.

BEER PONG THURSDAYS: This somewhat hard-to-find downtown bar (look for the door to the left of City Tavern) offers happy hour all day that includes $3 wells, domestic drafts and bottles. Bring your crew and ask the bartenders to break out the beer pong table, available for anyone who asks. One Eyed Penguin. Until 2 a.m.

BEE SCREENING: Edible Dallas and The Honey Bee Guild are joining up to present a film about the declining bee population. Bolsa Executive Chef, Graham Dodds, will be preparing passing plates for the occasion, and the menu includes blue cheese-stuffed dates, slow roasted grapes with Zip Code honey, brie, and honeycomb skewers, apple-honey butternut squash soup, and local bee pollen. Tickets are still available. Kessler Theatre, $25 at door. Bolsa caters from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., Film from 7:45 to 8:45.
