10/25-26: Learn To Be Scared

GHOST STORIES: No ghoul needs to jump out in the hall for historic houses to be a little spooky this time of year. The folks at the Dallas Heritage Village living history museum are giving guided Halloween Twilight Tours of the structures on site that some suspect are haunted after murders and other turn-of-the-century creepiness. Tours are led every 20 minutes on Saturday from 7-8PM; call 214.413.3674 to reserve a spot.

DINO-MITE SUGAR: What would a dinosaur give candy-seeking children in costumes? If it's an animatronic dinosaur along the DinosaursAlive! trail at the Heard Natural Science Museum, he'll give them exactly what they want. An outdoor screening of Monster House, costume contests for kiddos, exhibits included with admission and a photo booth make Halloween at the Heard a night that could venture into memorable territory. Find tickets here. Saturday, 6-10PM.

WHIMSICAL MUSIC: The animal-themed Dallas Symphony Halloween Family Concert at the Meyerson blends the circus appeal of "Carnival of the Animals" with the poetry of Ogden Nash, but there's more to serve the theme: a live petting zoo, which should pique the interest of those regretting their decision to sit out the state fair this year. Get tickets here. Sunday, 2:30PM.
