The Deftones, an Iron Chef, and a pumpkin palace

THE DEFTONES: With a sound that speaks to both alternative head bangers, rock lovers and rap mentalists, the Deftones know how to make music various fans can appreciate.  By playing with musical sounds in different genres, the Deftones continue creating innovative beats making for an eclectic sound that has lasted throughout their career. Wailing in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, the band has since released six studio albums and sold four million in the process all while keeping the same members they started with. The band is currently touring for their latest album “Diamond Eyes” released in May. Catch them with EIGHTFOURSEVEN tonight at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas at 8 p.m.

COOKING WITH FLAYVOR: If you’re wondering how to spice up your dishes, or how to just create an out-of-the-norm meal full of panache, Food Network’s original “Iron Chef” Bobby Flay can teach you a thing or two in the kitchen. Promoting his new cookbook “Throwdown!” featuring over 100 recipes from Food Network’s Ultimate Cooking Challenge, Bobby Flay will be greeting fans and signing book copies at Sur La Table in LakeSide Market in Plano at 12 p.m.

ALL ABOARD THE PUMPKIN EXPRESS: Begin the week with a train ride through a pumpkin oasis. For five bucks you can hop aboard the pumpkin train spanning a huge pumpkin patch to find the perfect gourd for your holiday Jack-O-Lantern. The Pumpkin Express rolls through Argyle from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. up until Oct. 31. The end of autumn pumpkin picking is quickly approaching so make sure you get the chance to relish in a unique pumpkin experience before it’s too late.
