Rockwall Girl Rocks โ€œThe Voiceโ€

A North Texas girl who was getting ready to graduate from Rockwall High School two years ago is now singing in front of a live TV audience of millions.

Amber Carrington is a contestant on NBC's hit show "The Voice," where she is on Team Adam.

Her grandmother, Jean Vice, said the 20-year-old has been singing in the North Texas area since she was a little girl. She sang at small competitions, but now she's on the national stage.

"I thought that I would be more nervous, but I'm not because I know that whatever the outcome is, she still got a very bright future ahead of her," Vice said.

Roughly 50 friends and family members gathered at Allure in the Chandlers Landing community in Rockwall to watch Carrington compete on Monday.

When they first saw Carrington and her new look, many said, "Wow."

Carrington was the first contestant to sing solo, and she received positive reviews from the judges. Her family is hopeful for the young girl with the big voice.

"God has given her a gift, and we've always taught her to use that gift in a good way, and I know that she will," Vice said.

Voting is underway until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Results will be announced Wednesday during "The Voice."
