Gaylord Texan Puts ‘Frosty the Snowman' on Ice

Gaylord Texan kicks off annual ICE! exhibit

The Gaylord Texan is kicking off the holiday season with it's annual ICE! exhibit.

This year the hotel's colorful ice exhibit has a "Frosty the Snowman" theme.

More than 2 million pounds of ice were handcrafted by master artisans from Harbin, China over the past 30 days.

"It is very cold inside, we keep it at a wintery 9 degrees to keep the ice intact, so every guest gets a complimentary parka to wear, but we do say wear good shoes and hats and mittens because it's definitely cold," said Martha Neibling, director of public relations at the Gaylord Texan.

In addition to scenes from the classic Christmas story, there is also a snow tubing hill and a nativity scene made entirely of ice.

Santa's Wild Workshop includes an area to decorate gingerbread cookies with Gingy the gingerbread man.

The exhibit opens Nov. 13 and runs through Jan. 3, 2015.
