West Texas Farm Provides 75,000 Pumpkins for Dallas Arboretum's Pumpkin Village

A West Texas pumpkin farm is providing most of the 75,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash used to build Dallas Arboretum's nationally-acclaimed Pumpkin Village.

Pumpkin Pyle Farms in Floydada is this year's source for the Pumpkin Village.

Floydada calls itself "Pumpkin Capital USA" and has been the Arboretum’s main pumpkin and gourd supplier for several years – provided the weather cooperates.

The first semi of pumpkins arrived at the Arboretum Tuesday and on Wednesday, Arboretum representatives will visit Floydada to see the final pumpkin harvest.

The arboretum's Pumpkin Village is an annual tradition and favorite photo opportunity every year.

This year, the display will be recreated into an Old Texas Town in the Pecan Grove and the Arboretum takes the Texas theme a step further with a large state of Texas mosaic.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden's Pumpkin Village is open to visitors Sept. 19 through Nov. 25.

Floydada’s 28th annual Punkin' Day will be Oct. 10 this year.
