Sharknado, Sharknado, Sharknado. You only thought the campy horror flick had run it's course -- well, it's back and in theaters for one night only.
Given all the buzz the SyFy movie has enjoyed over the last month, it's hard to believe that more people sat down and watched Chupacabra vs. the Alamo compared to Sharknado during their debut broadcasts.
Still, thanks to tweeters tweeting 5,000 tweets per minute during the original July 11 broadcast, the made-for-TV movie has obtained near cult-like status and is now headed to the big-screen with, of course, never before seen footage as a lure.
If you're looking for something to do Friday night -- it's likely as good as, or better than, any other alternative. After all, the sharks will be bigger, the dialogue louder and you can bet audiences will be ignoring traditional theater decorum by tweeting live from midnight showings around the country -- it's bound to be a very social #sharknado experience.
Here in North Texas, Sharknado can be seen in Fort Worth at UA Fossil Creek Stadium 11, in Dallas at the UA Galaxy Theater Stadium 10 and in Burleson at Regal Burleson Movies Stadium 14. Fear not, even if you miss going to Friday's showing SyFy plans to air the movie again on Aug. 22 ahead of it's next campy-horror offering, Ghost Shark. As you might have guessed from the title, Ghost Shark is a sure-fire classic about a spectral predator from the deep with vengeance on the brain and the incredible ability to appear anywhere there are droplets of water. Just when you thought it was safe to water the lawn ...
A better paired double-feature I can't imagine.
