The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has canceled holiday and all other concerts through the end of the year amid a lingering strike by musicians over salaries.
A symphony statement Monday announced cancellation of concerts at Bass Performance Hall through December, plus performances in Mansfield and Stephenville.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports musicians went on strike Sept. 8 after rejecting a contract with initial pay cuts.
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has 65 full-time musicians earning an average $62,000 annually, plus health benefits. Symphony management, which cited a $700,000 annual deficit, began canceling concerts a few weeks at a time after the strike began.
Management and the musicians union met Saturday for the first time in almost two months. Negotiations have gone on for more than a year.
