Eclectic & Electric Christmas Holiday Display is a Neighborhood Favorite in Dallas

‘Tis the season for twinkling lights, and lots of holiday cheer as some homeowners love to go all out when it comes to Christmas decorations.

Gary Isett, who lives off Abrams in the Lakewood community of Dallas, is one of those people.

“Oh, I live for this,” said Isett. “I love this, I plan for this. The day after Halloween I have a soft Christmas launch, and then the day after Thanksgiving I go all out."

His front lawn is adorned with the traditional holiday decorations, but there are also some eclectic additions.

“If it’s not unique, it’s not going in my yard," said Isett. "I have a 25-foot Santa, Snoopy is up with a Santa hat riding a motorcycle, but I also have flamingos next to the nativity scene, and a 16-foot-tall dinosaur that’s covered in lights. People are constantly pulling over and taking pictures."

"I love putting a smile on people’s faces. I want to brighten their day. It’s my way of giving back,” said Isett.

In return for his Christmas cheer, Gary has received dozens of cards and hand written letters, simply saying, “thank you for brightening up the neighborhood.”

His most recent thank you card came with $300 attached.

“I think it’s nice that people want to give back to me, but I do it for them,” said Isett.

Five years ago Gary was the new guy on the block. He didn’t know a soul, and now he says he gets recognized around town.

“It’s like a family. We’re a family and I’m happy to be a part and give back to this community. Putting a smile on someone’s face is my way of giving back,” he said.
