Dixie Chicks Announce First Major U.S. Tour in a Decade

Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, singers together known as North Texas' own Dixie Chicks, are once again hitting the stage in a world tour that includes stops in Dallas and Houston.

The Grammy-winning group will kick off its "DCX MMXVI World Tour" on June 1 in Cincinnati. It wraps up the tour Oct. 10 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. In between, on Aug. 5, the Chicks will play the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Fair Park -- tickets go on sale Saturday, Nov. 21 at noon.

The road trip is the first for the Dixie Chicks in 10 years. Their last album, "Taking the Long Way," was in 2006. It won the Grammy for album of the year and its hit single, "Not Ready to Make Nice," won song and record of the year Grammys.

Since then, sisters Robison and Maguire, teamed up to form the duo Court Yard Hounds and released albums in 2010 and 2013. Maines released her first solo album in 2013.

"Just when you thought you were safe, America, we're back," Maines comments in the 15-second clip from the band. "It's been 10 years since we toured the U.S."

The Dixie Chicks' North American tour will follow the group's European tour that begins in April.

The group will visit more than 40 cities, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit and Toronto. The tour is the largest the group has undertaken in North America since its Accusations & Accidents World Tour in 2006.
